Mallappally town is a very magnificent moderate growing town with plenty of people living around.Geographically it is a nice place for the tourists.In the heart of the city there is beautiful river flows and a huge bridge that divides Mallappally into east and west.
The land derived its name from Mallan meaning Strong People and Pally meaning living land, and is believed to have a community of brave aggressive people from the nearby communities.
Santhipuram Temple
In this temple most of the important gods and goddesses are sympolically represented and their
idols are already made. Goddess Durga is the chief among Gods and Goddesses. The temple one of the biggest temples ever made in kerala. It is almost alike Madura Meenakshi temple in Madurai.
The statue of God Sree Rama’s height is 12.25 feet. This temple is constructed in memory and heart desire of persons mother. Since for the last 10 years its work still continues. Now it is almost finished. This surely will attract those who came to visit kerala
Parathod Water Falls
This is a beautiful waterfall in Mallappally. Which will surely attract the tourists. Seasonally while it is drought the waterfalls ceases. Very near to the waterfalls there is heap of rocks which is very high and this attracts pople who are eager to know how wonderfil is God’s creation
Mallappally Thirumalida Temple Sivarathri
One of the oldest and ancient siva temple in kerala is situated in the district of pathanamthitta,
Mallappally known as Thirumalid Mahadeva Temple. It is situated in the serine place of mallappally taluk near the bank of manimala river. The belief is the mahadevan is a autogenous power generated at Thirumalida which is the only Mahadeva temple near a river is Southern Kerala. Sivarathri is the most famous festival celebrations at the Manalpuram near the temple in manimala river. All the people in the sorrounding places is participating without regard to caste, creed or colour in this festival. The Kavadiyattam which is celebrating will be done only after 12 days rigorous prayer and fasting. The largest festival is carried out in this Manalpuram which is one of the world famous festival of sivarathri.
Kavadiyattom, Aratu, Pampa Melam, Mayilattom, Velakali, Parade of well decorated elephants, in the mdnight there is a special colourful dance with group of people along with elephants. This usually attracts people of different ethic groups. People in their spiritual ectasy pierce in their face long pointed needles and pray their gods some needles are pretty long in size.

Cave Temple
A cave temple in Kaviyoor is historically very important and tradition has its root in this temple. The Kaviyoor Mahadeva Temple which was constructed in the early years of the 10th century is one of the oldest of the Mahadeva temples in Kerala. Hence is also Hanuman temple. Cave temple in Kaviyoor is one of the rare type of cave temple in Kerala. This temple is constructed in the Pallava architectural style and was built in the 8th cnetury. Apart from Ganapthy, Maharshi, Dwarapalaka idols in the Sreee Kovil which in inside the cave, there is also Sivalinga which is about three feet in height.
Kallooppara Church

St. Mary's Orthodox Church is situated at the heart of a small village called Kallooppara, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, India. It is one of the oldest and renowned churches in Kerala and a priced possession of Malankara Sabha. The church have a legacy of around seven centuries, keeping its tradition and culture intact without compromising on its religious values. The church is a perfect example of the ancient temple architecture and is an elegant representation of the beautiful shingled roof tops in the early Travancore style. The church has a splendid blend of beauty and science in it and is a mystery the way it has overcome all the challenges of time. The church which is the worshiping place of thousands has been a topic of research for many.
In the earlier days the Christian believers of Kallooppara had to depend on the 'Niranam Church' for the holy mass, funeral ceremonies and other religious rites. The journey on Vallom(small boat) through the Manimala and Pampa rivers was tedious, tiresome and risky.The much renowned Edappally Kings were ruling at that time and they used to spend their time in the famous and explicably beautiful Elangalloor Maddom, rich in its architectural antiquity, that once existed on the north side of the river Manimala. A abode for the royal guests that was once well-equipped with a private pool called the 'Kullipura Mallika' equipped with granite rock paved steps carved with excellent craftsmanship to the Manimala river, can still be seen now in Angadikadavu of Puramattam panchayat
Gothrakalapeedom
Among the activities of the Gothrakalapeedom are its efforts to promote projects involving Padayani and also of other ritual art forms of Kerala; to provide training in Padayani ; training and promotion of tribal art forms; to assist research works on the history of Padayani ; and to implement welfare programmes for Padayani artistes.
The Kunnamthanam Patayani is one among the earliest Patayanis of Central Travancore. The ritual is observed in association with the Madathilkavu Bhagavathy Temple. The Patayani was presented for 8 days from Medam 3 to Medam10. The real architects of the Kunnamthanam Patayani , the Sage like Kanppettil Narayanakurup Asan, Allimangalathu Krishna Pilla Asan, Kamukumcheril Kunjunni Kurup Asan, were its real torch bearers. The Patayani discontinued from 1952 was ritualised again in 2005. The Kunnamthanam Patayani owes its birth to the Gothrakalapeedom, a renowned training group for rituals and folklore. Tharanamuryil T.K. Vasudevan Pilla Asan was instrumental in recreating the KnnamthanamPatayani by keeping in tact its old rites.
Five Ganapathykolams in the guise of Pisachu dancing in the Kalam (ground), the imagery of the sky bound Ambarayakshy descending in a chariot as Chattathelyakshy, and the Devathakolam, resembling the Madthilkkavil Bhagavathy are exclusive features of the Kunnamthanam Patayani. The Patayani is observed annually on Medam 7 (April 20). Pathicadu Church
Pathicadu parish was established during the reign of Edappally Kings who were famous for their
religious tolerance and solidarity. St. Mary's Church Kallooppara and Vengalassery Church Mallappally which were established earlier were also a mark of their generosity. Hence the history of Pathicadu Church is linked with the history of these two Churches.
In the early days the people of this locality had to depend on St. Mary's Orthodox Church Niranam for their prayers & Holy Mass and other religious rites including the funeral services. It may be recalled on this occasion that the Niranam Church was founded by St.Thomas the apostle himself.In those days when transport facilities were inadequate, the people of this region had to voyage through Manimala River for their journey. (formerly the river was named as ‘Vishakanah’ (word from Sanskrit Literature) It is believed that the water in this river is an antidote to any poison).
St. Thomas C.S I. Church Nedungadappally
The St. Thomas C.S I. Church Nedungadappally has it’s origin in the 19th Century, the century that is known for the great missionary zeal. That enlightened most of the unreached world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was in 1899 that this historic church, totally indigenous with no financial support from any missionary organization has laid its foundation. All the labor sweet, whole hearted contribution and prayers where form the families from the then this part of the great village Mallappally.
The church grew beyond expectation and imagination. We are proud to say that the present structure is the outcome of the whole hearted support of only the members of this church now spread all over the world. This church is an icon among many of the new churches that have come up in the Madhya Kerala Diocese.
The church has spared no toil to reach thus far, and we salute all those who have labored for its great cause. We now cherished the memories of those sages and their legacies to move forward with a church website which would bring volumes of information of the church programs, ministries, activities and various other projects.
